Teaching the Lord’s wisdom for all ages in Mount Laurel, NJ

Leading the Heritage Baptist Church is Pastor Stephen Wise, who marvels every day at how good God has been to allow him the privilege of serving Him in this ministry.

Pastor Stephen Wise accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior when he was just six years old. He grew up in a Pastor’s home and learned early in life that he was never too young to serve God. When he began high school, God called his father to pastor a church in eastern North Carolina. During his high school years, God affirmed His call on Stephen’s life to serve Him as a preacher of the Gospel.

After graduating from high school in 1989, Pastor Stephen began attending Bob Jones University. He graduated in May of 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts in Pastoral Studies. God gave him the opportunity to serve in several ministries while a student at BJU.

On February 4, 1995, Pastor Stephen married Amy Barnes in Wilson, North Carolina. Amy is a wonderful wife and has been an incredible encouragement to him in their years of serving God together. God has blessed them with two children, Elizabeth and Noah.

God has given Pastor Stephen the privilege to serve Him from 1993 to the present in several ministries as a Pastor, Youth Pastor, Administrator, and Teacher.

God directed and led him to Heritage Baptist Church in June of 2011 to serve with his father, Pastor Roy R. Wise, as the church’s youth pastor. During the Spring of 2013, his father began having health difficulties due to a brain tumor.

August 4, 2013, his father preached his last sermon as the Pastor of HBC. His text was Romans 8:28, we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose. The following Sunday Pastor Stephen began serving as the Interim Pastor here at HBC. On December 6, 2013, God promoted his father to Heaven. The church asked Pastor Stephen to stay on as his father’s successor. After much prayer and waiting on the Lord, on January 5, 2014, he accepted the call to serve as the Pastor of Heritage Baptist church.

II Samuel 22:31, “As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.” Pastor Stephen serves a good God and believes His Word. God says in Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” Pastor Stephen knows that God has a plan for Heritage Baptist Church.

We are excited to see what God is going to do through this ministry as we make it our mission to see lives transformed by the Word of God. He prays that God will allow him the privilege of leading this ministry for Him until He comes or takes him Home.
